Up ’n About Scotland was created for travellers who want to experience Scotland without rushing, following rigid schedules, or joining large tour groups. Since 2021, we’ve been offering private sightseeing and hiking tours across the Scottish Highlands and the Isle of Skye, designed around each guest’s interests, pace, and sense of adventure.

Meet Your Guide
Hi, I’m John, the founder of Up ’n About Scotland.
​
I started the business in 2021, initially teaching navigation and leading hillwalking and hiking trips. In 2023, I added transport to offer fully guided sightseeing tours, allowing guests to explore Scotland’s landscapes and historic locations in comfort and at their own pace.

I’m a qualified mountain leader with years of experience guiding people through the mountains of Scotland, Wales, England, and Ireland. Whether we’re hiking in Glen Coe or exploring the Isle of Skye by road, safety, local knowledge, and flexibility are always at the heart of every tour.
Our Approach
We believe the best tours are not rushed. Some people want to fit in as much as possible, while others prefer to slow down and enjoy fewer places in more depth — and we’re happy to do either.

Planning Your Tour
Most of our tours are private and tailored, which means many guests start with an enquiry. Once details are confirmed, a 20% deposit secures your dates, with full booking information provided in advance. Selected tours can also be booked directly online using our secure booking system powered by Bokun.
