Up ’n About Scotland was created for travellers who want to experience Scotland without rushing, following rigid schedules, or joining large tour groups. Since 2021, we’ve been offering private sightseeing and hiking tours across the Scottish Highlands and the Isle of Skye, designed around each guest’s interests, pace, and sense of adventure.

​The Face Behind Up 'n About Scotland
​Hi, I'm John.
I'm a passionate driver-guide, qualified Mountain Leader and founder of Up 'n About Scotland.
​
Originally from Ireland, I moved to Scotland in 2008 and quickly fell in love with its landscapes, history and culture. After leading my first Scottish tour in 2010, I knew I'd found the perfect way to combine my love of the outdoors with meeting people from around the world.
​
In May 2015, I compleated my final Munro, climbing all 282 of Scotland's Munros. That journey gave me a unique appreciation of the country's mountains, hidden glens and spectacular scenery.
​
Today, I specialise in private tours and guided hikes across Scotland. I personally guide many of our tours, and when I'm unavailable, I work with a small network of trusted, experienced local driver-guides and Mountain Leaders who share the same commitment to delivering exceptional experiences.

Whether you're joining us for a scenic day tour, a multi-day Highland adventure or a guided hike, our goal is simple: to help you experience Scotland at your own pace and create memories that last a lifetime.

Most of our tours are private and tailored, which means many guests start with an enquiry. Once details are confirmed, a 20% deposit secures your dates, with full booking information provided in advance.
