Fitness and experience

A level of fitness and experience appropriate for the activity you are taking part in will be required. This is used to help us plan the event you are booking and to ensure those in the group are of a similar level. You must also let us know if you have any injuries, medical conditions or are taking any medication.

It is your responsibility to ensure you have the required level of fitness for the event you are booking on.  While it is expected you could be pushing your limits, if you are deemed not to have an adequate level of fitness then for your own safety and that of other participants, you may be asked to take no further part in the event and any fees paid will not be refunded.  Anyone believed to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol, acting in an abusive matter or ignoring advice given by their guide will also be required to leave.

If you have any doubts or need to discuss your fitness or experience, please contact us before booking onto an event and we will be more than happy to advise.

Safety

Although you will be guided by a mountain leader, hillwalking does involve a risk of injury. Your guide will assess the group and weather conditions and to ensure safety may make appropriate changes to the event if required on the day. This may involve a change of venue or cancelling the event in bad weather.

If you decide to take a different route from the event description without the advice of the guide, we will not be held responsible for any injuries.

While our guides will do everything in their power to ensure your safety, the dynamic nature of the outdoor environment means we can never ensure your safety in every situation. You are responsible for accepting the risks of injury or death and we ask that you read the Mountaineering Scotland participation statement below.

Mountaineering Scotland Participation Statement

Mountaineering Scotland recognises that climbing and mountaineering are activities with a danger of personal injury or death. Participants in these activities should be aware of and accept these risks and be responsible for their own actions and involvement.

The information on the event pages on the website is for guidance only. The routes have been used for years and described in most hillwalking books or websites. The times are based on having a reasonably fit group of hillwalkers completing the route in good weather conditions.

We also make every effort to ensure the route information is correct, but cannot be held responsible for any changes to access issues by landowners or bad weather.

We reserve the right to make changes to any events advertised.
